Beautiful flowers flourish in the daily mist that the sea provides and the temperate climate soothes and ensures a steady growth.
What a great place to bring your chair and curl up with a good book.
The Pacific Ocean on a peaceful summer's day. Can't you just hear the gulls and the crashing of the waves against those rocks?
The Yaquina Bay Lighthouse perched on a jetty of rock overlooking the crashing ocean just below. Completely restored, you can climb the spiral staircase inside and have a look from the very top. It's a lovely view.
The tidepools below harbor a world teaming with life. The day was cool with a stiff breeze coming in from the ocean and the fog never quite receded.
The rock that juts out from the shore is a favorite perch for the marine birds as is evidenced from the mass quanitities of their droppings. See all that white stuff on the top of the big rock? That's not frosting or seafoam...
Have you ever imagined what it would be like to soar through the air like the birds? Oh, the sheer joy and the freedom they must feel would be amazing! Just catch a little current of air and soar above everything!
The beach has always been a place of peace and relaxation for me. A great place to visit and just let your senses go and let your imagination run wild. Feel the spray of the ocean on your face and breath deep...glorious!
at the beach.

XO!!!
What lovely, soothing photos. I am ready to relax with a refreshing drink as i am looking at them. I cant get over all of the colors in the shoreline. Just beautiful.
Gorgeous, makes me really want spring!
Thanks for all the lovely comments! Yep, dreaming is exactly what I've been doing. It's a great escape for me from these dreary winter day realities. Those pics were from last summer when hubby and I got away for a long weekend to Newport, Oregon. We stayed at the Sylvia Beach Hotel - a very old hotel which years and years ago was one of the Oregon Coast's favorite honeymoon destinations. Each room is "author themed". We stayed first in the Ernest Hemmingway and then in the aaackk, I've forgotten her name - Emily or Amelia...something, getting old is hell!! Anyway, I highly recommend the place, very old-fashioned and quaint. They serve hot mulled wine each eve and a sumptuous breakfast of their choosing each morning. It's in the historical Nye Beach area of Newport. Walking distance to shops, bakeries, coffee shops, restaurants, galleries...everything!! They even have a cat who will visit you each morning if you stay in that Emily whoever room! Very fun!!
So pretty! I'm jealous!
Hi! Just came over from Gizzards & Calf Fries and LOVED LOVED LOVED your pics and MUSIC...Wild horses. Love that song. And we sure enjoy Oregon and can't wait to get back there this summer. It's just so beautiful and GREEN!! lol ;-) Sorry, couldn't help myself.....
I've got a small ceramic hanging with "Near the sea we forget to count the days."
The ocean does tend to make our hearts beat to the rhythm of the surf and help us put our woes in perspective.
I am blessed to live about 15 minutes from the beach. I find it makes me feel so many things, wistful, sad sometimes, small, but also calm and a part of the universe. I need to remember to use that resource more often.
Beautiful Pictures! We moved from the beach 10 months ago because of changes in our life. Nothing better than walking on the beach. Love the smell of the ocean air. I am really missing it. Thanks for sharing. Brings back wonderful memories>
Thanks for carrying me away with you in your dreams. I've never been to your beaches before, though I have been to the Pacific.
We used to live only an hour from the beach in South Carolina and spent many weekend each summer and Fall camping by the ocean.
My husband is talking me into moving back to SC one day to retire.
My heart is in the mountains, but I do find peace and solace by the sea, too.
When is you trip to Hawaii??
