Anticipation

It is always such fun to look forward to coming events.  Hoping for longer daylight hours, sunnier skies and drier weather has me looking forward and anticipating our spring and summer.  Oh, it will be so wonderful having warmth and sunshine back in our world!  I've done alright again this winter with my SADS, but I have to admit that I've grown weary of all the rain we're having.  And did we get it this past week in spades!  Don't ask me for measurements, but trust me when I say that it has been record-breaking wet!

So done with it.  *sigh*  I'm not ready for hot weather where I lose all ambition and just want to lounge in the pool - no, not that yet - but mild, beautiful, warm spring.  I am ready to start riding again.  I haven't been on my horse since last fall.  Seriously, hate that I'm never able to keep up even a light riding schedule through the winter months, but I just don't seem to be able to do it.  Oh well, no sense beating myself up about it.  But I am gearing up and hoping this is the year when I really get going on Eags.

Remember back in early January I decided on a chosen word for this year?  I chose courage, and elaborated by adding - "if not now, when?"  Well, up until now I really haven't had much opportunity to put that idea into action.  But that's going to change.  I've entered Eagle and I in a clinic with Joe Wolter the end of June.  There are only 5 riders total, and that will make for a very intimate riding experience with a wonderful clinician.  I've never ridden with Joe, but I did audit one of his clinics years ago.  I've always wanted the chance to ride, and I got it.  We've got some prep work to do before then, and I've got a plan of action that I'm hoping to get started on real soon.  I haven't got everything sorted out yet, but I may have found someone to start taking some lessons from, and only a couple of miles from home.  That would be a great opportunity for Eagle and me to improve our skills, conditioning and especially our relationship.  He trusts me and I know he feels good when he's with me.  Now, I need to feel that good when I ride him.  It's a mental thing with me.  That's where the lessons should help, a lot.  Courage...bring it on.

Anyway, that's my plan and by golly, I'm stickin' to it!

Is anyone else heartbroken that Downton Abbey is finished?  Oh my word, I hate that the show is over!  Quitting while you're on top is seriously overrated...*sniff* That was the thing I always looked forward to watching Sunday evening, the only thing.  Television these days is pathetically bad.  If you have a favorite series that you just wouldn't want to miss - please help me out.  Tell me, and maybe I can buy the series on DVD or something...I need my veg-out tele time!!  :)

Your weather does sound miserable. It's hard to get motivated when it's so dreary outside.

I hope you'll be able to start working with Eagle sooner than later. The lessons and the clinic sound like a great way to go.

Almost everything on TV is garbage these days. I don't know if you'd like it but I do look forward to a show on Starz called Black Sails. It's about pirates but it can be a little ummm, risqué for some I guess. I did watch House of Cards from Netflix too. I really liked the Breaking Bad series too which I'm sure you can rent. These aren't as tame as Downton Abbey but I liked them for what they were. I'll miss Downton too there was nothing on last Sunday.

Good for you, having a plan with your horse. I've been able to keep up with my riding for the most part, not counting the rainy weather last week. I'm hoping to find a new home for Buddy before too long so I can afford to take more lessons with Beau.
I just signed up for a free trial with Amazon Prime for their online photo storage and other reasons. They have the seasons of Downton Abbey on their video list which is included with Prime. I've never watched that show so I may give it a try and see if it's worth my TV time.

Ooh, thanks Arlene, I love pirate shows! I'll check them out.
Denise, it would be worth your time to check Downton out...it's very good.

We have a stretch of your weather now, rainy & gray definitely doesn't help with motivation...sunnier days are coming! I truly hope your lessons work out for you & Eagle, so helpful to have eyes on the ground that lead to those aha moments. I've never heard of Joe Wolter, will have to google him. Looking forward to hearing about your clinic experience & take-aways!! I am not a TV person perse, so not much help from me. I watch a little of whatever my hubby has on while eating supper. With that said, I've watched most of The Voice since season 2, altho I've never seen any of the other similar shows. I've been a Blake fan since before he was an opening act. Blind Spot follows it and sucked me right in (on Monday Nights). It's know as "the show with the tattooed lady they use as clues". Nothing too deep.

Yay, for you and Eagle--on the trainer and the clinic. That is a BIG step, and one you'll love!!

Yes, I miss Downton Abbey. I could have cried when it ended. I rented it and did a marathon, which made it even worse.

I do watch several others: The Vikings, House of Cards, GOT, Peaky Blinders, and Homeland are some of my favorites. Oh, and Mozart in the Jungle, of course. Homeland was excellent.

Linda, it is a big step for me, but it seems that's how I move ahead is to pay for an expensive clinic and be totally unprepared and then think, oh crap I'd better get busy! It's sort of a kick in the pants for me. :) And at a clinic, I always relax knowing that we're all there for the same reasons - improve our relationship with our horse, advance our horsemanship and learn. I always feel safe and surrounded by like-minded, caring people. I'm happy to hear that you almost cried when Downton Abbey finished...because so did I! I felt a bit foolish, but there you have it. And I have series 1-5 on DVD and have started watching one episode each Sunday evening and relishing all of it. I'll be adding season 6 soon. Thanks for the recommendations on the other shows, I'll check them out. :)

Rain Rain Rain! Here in California too. I don't have an indoor, but I ride between breaks. But it has been two weeks since I rode last and boy, my pony looks wretched!
I love that you chose the word courage! Check out my blog today~ I write about FEAR. I honestly didn't know your word was courage when I wrote it! Maybe it will make you feel better!
Check out Ripper Street on Netflicks.
Black Sails is my absolute fav! Who doesn't like hunky and beautiful Pirates? It took a few episodes to get in the swing, but it is definitely worth it!
Since Downton is over I may try to watch Highlander. I loved the book.

We love Downton, and we also own every Jane Austen series or movie ever made, so that might be a good bunch for you to try. I particularly love both versions of Sense and Sensibility, but the classic fave is the old BBC Pride and Prejudice with Colin firth in it.

We're just getting to the end of Outlander. It's beautifully made but it's hot hot hot! I warned my mum that she might want to fast forward past some bits and she said, hey, maybe I might keep rewinding those bits and watching them over again! Cheeky mum! :D
