Two Tickets to Paradise

...won't you, pack your bags we'll leave tonight...I've got two tickets to paradise...Not exactly how the song goes, but you get the picture. We actually fly out very early Friday morning!! I've tried very hard not to think about this trip for fear that my summer would whizzzz by, and quite frankly, I think I've done a fairly good job. But dagnabbit anyways!! - my summer has flown by quite nicely all on it's own. I can't believe that fall is just around the corner. Technically, the first day of fall takes place on September 22 if you check the calendar, but by my personal calculations, I detect a nip in the air and the scent of fall all around me. On my most recent trail ride in the mountains, I happened to notice the leaves are turning colors and there's a crispness in the mornings that wasn't there until recently. School days are coming up rather quickly and it feels good to snuggle under the covers at night. And, a sure sign of autumn are the apples that are being scarfed up at an alarming rate practically before they hit the ground by the horses...sigh...time stops for no one (thanks Mick). So...what's a gal to do???

Why...head to paradise of course!!!!! Yeaaahh baby!!! We are leaving for Kailua, on the island of Oahu. Yippee!! Now, I am relenting all my inhibitions and letting go of all my worries and strife and plan on doing absolutely nothing but bask in the Hawaiian sun, swim in the beautiful blue Pacific Ocean, eat, drink, shop, whatever my little ole heart desires...can you say swim with the dolphins??? Oh yes, I've always wanted to get up close and personal with a dolphin. One of my bucket list things, don't ya know. Actually, I'll be crossing off two things from that list. Going to a tropical island and getting acquainted with a dolphin...maybe even more than one...if they're friendly and in the mood, of course.

Now is the time to get excited. I've decided it's okay.

Today is my last day of work for almost two weeks, and I'm sooo looking forward to a little rest and relaxation that I could fairly bust!! Wish us well, won't you?

A little prayer that our plane doesn't take a nosedive into the big drink would be appreciated too. No pitstops, no unexpected landings in shark-infested waters is not too much to ask - is it?

Bye all.

Blessings from cingspots :)

MAHALO....and ALHOA! Have a great time in Oahu! My DH and I several years ago....do you know about Hanauma Bay on the southeast coast? It's both a nature preserve and marine conservatory for sea life....some of the best snorkeling we've ever experienced....and we've been to several of the islands. This is the beach Elvis' Blue Hawaii was filmed....it's quite beautiful. I remember a city bus taking us within 2 miles of the beach and we walked the rest of the way....boy it was hot and we would never do that again....we didn't have a rental car because my husband was there on business at the hotel we were at which was on Waikiki Beach! No fear girl...I'll pray!

I'm so excited for you!!!! I have had "Swim with Dolphins" on my list for years. You MUST write me when you get back and tell me all about it and where to go, etc. etc. It will be a profoundly moving experience for you, of that I'm sure.

Hugs!!

Have a great trip to Hawaii.

I just found your blog. I enjoyed the photos of your appys, especially "Laddy." I have a gelding by Sir Ladigo also. My "Kid" (Kid Ladigo)is an 8 year old, 16 hand beautiful bay with blanket. He's a people loving goof ball. He also loves all other horses. Especially a certain mini he's in love with.

I've been to nearly every one of your photo locations at one time or another! We horse camp. We camped at Cyrus Springs (near Madras) in July and Sheep Springs in August. My sis and I love the Canby Tack Sale and will be going up there in October, whether we need anything or not!

Hi there swooldridge, I would love to see pics of your Kid. I have never met anyone who has a Sir Ladigo horse - ever. I used to own Sir's momma. Her name was "Mis Star of David", we called her Scooter. I tried to visit your blog, but couldn't. Let's talk horses, and share some info!!! Thanks so much for the comment. Oh, my Ladde is a people-loving goofball too!! Must be something in the genes!! I have another horse who is a half-brother to Sir Ladigo - Harley.

Did you stay in Hawaii? Did you cry and stamp your feet when it was time to leave?
Are you freezing back in Oregon?
You were missed!

Thanks for all the well wishes everyone! We had the vacation of a lifetime, and it was perfect!!! We loved every minute of it, and have tons of pics to share. But coming home is always fun too...I missed my sweet poochie, Annie and all the horses. We came home to yet another wedding and looking forward to a horse camp-out this coming weekend. Very soon things will slow down...I'm ready.

Oooh! You're home! And I can't wait to read/see all about your Hawaiian vacation! Swimming with dolphins and visiting Hawaii are on my bucket list, too. Hubby and I were supposed to go one year, paid for the reservations and all, but then two months before we were to leave, I found out I was prego with twins. Dr said, "Not safe to fly with twins' bummer.....

So, catch us up, why don't ya?!
